Residents of Greater Noida West are grappling with dangerously pothole-ridden roads, while officials remain stuck in paperwork, delaying actual repair work. Despite massive real estate investments and high-rise societies, citizens are left dodging deep craters on roads connecting their neighborhoods. Complaints to the Greater Noida Authority (GNA) and the Chief Minister’s portal have reportedly gone unheeded, fueling frustration among locals.
Dark Roads, Daily Hazards
The service road connecting ATS Golchakkar to Arihant Amber Society exemplifies the problem. Resident Dinesh Kumar said potholes appear every five meters, compounded by non-functional streetlights, leaving roads pitch-dark at night. Two-wheeler riders frequently fall and sustain injuries, while car suspensions suffer permanent damage. Repeated complaints have drawn no concrete action, prompting residents to threaten protests if the situation persists.
Paperwork Over Action
Residents have repeatedly reported road conditions through IGRS and public hearings, but officials continue to cite procedural delays in the tender process. Senior GNA Manager Rajesh Kumar Nigam admitted that several roads in Greater Noida West are damaged but assured that pothole-free roads will be ready by March-April once tenders are executed.
Missed Deadlines, Empty Promises
The road connecting Shriram School in Techzone-4 to Samriddh Grad Avenue Society remains riddled with potholes, dust, and debris, despite assurances in July to complete the work by September. Resident Arun Kumar Singh said follow-up hearings in December yielded the same excuse: “tender process is underway,” leaving locals exposed to accidents.
Temporary Fixes Fail
Around Nirala Green Shire Society in Sector-2, residents reported that potholes were crudely filled with stones and soil as a temporary measure. According to Kapil Khare, traffic pressure soon dislodged the materials, creating slip hazards and worsening road conditions. Citizens accuse the authorities of half-hearted repairs rather than constructing proper roads.
Residents of Greater Noida West are now demanding immediate, durable solutions, warning that continued negligence will force them to take to the streets to secure safe commuting conditions.
