The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday announced the names of 120 members of its National Council, featuring some of the party’s tallest leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
The announcement was made alongside the unopposed election of Union Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary as the new BJP Uttar Pradesh State President. Central Election Officer Piyush Goyal formally declared Chaudhary’s name, marking a significant organizational development for the party in the state.
As per the official list, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been nominated from Varanasi, Rajnath Singh from Lucknow, and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath from Gorakhpur. Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya (Prayagraj) and Brajesh Pathak (Unnao) have also been included. Other prominent leaders appointed to the National Council include Smriti Irani (Sultanpur), Bhupendra Chaudhary (Moradabad), Dr Mahendra Nath Pandey (Varanasi), Suryapratap Shahi (Deoria), Swatantra Dev Singh (Banda) and Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti (Fatehpur).
The list reflects wide regional representation across Uttar Pradesh, with leaders drawn from districts such as Kaushambi, Etawah, Pratapgarh, Basti, Barabanki, Gonda, Aligarh, Saharanpur, Muzaffarnagar, Bijnor, Rampur, Sambhal, Amroha, Meerut, Gautam Buddh Nagar, Bulandshahr, and Hapur, among others.
Senior party leaders including Vinod Sonkar, Subrat Pathak, Lallu Singh, Sangam Lal Gupta, Darshana Singh, Kaushlendra Patel, Seema Dwivedi, Neelam Sonkar and Vinod Pandey have also been inducted into the National Council. The appointments include a mix of sitting MPs, MLAs, former ministers, organizational leaders and grassroots representatives, highlighting the BJP’s emphasis on social and regional balance.
Party sources said the newly constituted National Council will play a key role in shaping organizational strategy, policy discussions and future electoral planning. The appointments come at a crucial time as the BJP strengthens its internal structure ahead of upcoming political challenges at both the state and national levels.
The announcement underscores the BJP’s continued focus on organizational consolidation in Uttar Pradesh, with the inclusion of senior leadership as well as emerging faces from across the state.
